My purpose for this site is that, in "holding forth the Word of Life" by God's grace and enabling, I may reach viewers with the precious word of God that communicates to us God's amazing love for us. My prayer is that the word, as herein presented, may enlighten, encourage, edify, and exhort those in need.
As the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, Himself truly God, came to seek and to save the lost and to give gifts to believers, beyond the initial gift of eternal life. Of Him it is written that God His Father "hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound [ . . . ] to comfort all that mourn"--Isaiah 61. 1, 2. Who today has never felt brokenhearted?
While not everyone has been a captive to alcohol or drugs, who has never felt like a prisoner in either an unhappy situation or in socio-economic status? Who has never mourned the loss of a loved one? Jesus Christ offers comfort and/or deliverance to all who are in situations they cannot escape. His promise is to uplift, not crush, to inspire, not depress. The prophet Isaiah poetically states this, "A bruised reed shall He not break, and the smoking flax shall He not quench"--Is. 42: 3.
In today's culture, many people are emotionally and spiritually confused, battered, starved, empty, or scarred. Several years ago in an emotional growth seminar for a group of C.P.A.s, the male participants were asked to describe in one word the feelings they have when communication with their significant other breaks down. They came up with the following: alone, hopeless, and afraid. The women agreed. All too often, basic human communication fails or falls short, even in this time of high-tech communication devices. With so many distractions, people find it difficult to concentrate on more important issues like purpose and meaning in life, questions of origin and destiny, the nature of an individual's worth, or the value of human existence and experience.
These questions are answered in and by Jesus Christ, verbalized in the Holy Bible. To understand the answers, one must first understand his or her needs, that all humans are separated from God by a chasm of sin, a sin nature that all humans are born with. God sent His Son to be the bridge that would bring humans back into fellowship with God. Accepting God's provision--by faith, not works--gives the individual a new nature which contains and is empowered by the Spirit of Christ. And God's plan and purpose, desire and design for all individuals who accept Christ is that they would grow up spiritually to a state of maturity--just as in the natural life, parents desire that their children grow up to become responsible, successful, happy adults. God's intent is that believers in Christ should not only talk the talk, they should also walk the walk.
I will be building a list of articles, as I add them, as well as the series of questions and answers dealt with in my blog. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected].
